The first charecteristic monument that has stood in Edirne since the Ottomans, is The Old Mosque that the most important historical artifact of the Ottoman Interregnum. The construction of the mosque in the city centre started in 1403 by Emirhan Suleyman Chelebi and the stecture was completed in 1414 during the reign of Chelebi Sultan Mehmed.
The architect of the mosque is Haji Alaeddin and the builder is Omer Bin İbrahim. The structure is a “grand mosque”, other examples of which are Bursa Grand Mosque and Plovdiv Grand Mosque. One of the minarets has one, and the other minaret has two sherefes. Teh main minaret with one sherefe stands on the left over the main wall.
The minaret with two sherefe was built later, separately from the main bulding.
