Sv. Georgi Church is in the northeastern part of Edirne, in Kıyık Barutluk District. Bulgarian people predominantly resided in this part of the city in the past.
The construction of the church started in April 23, 1880 and completed in the same year. The building was constructed thanks to the permission of Sultan Abdülhamit II and the support from Rauf Pasha, Governor of Edirne.
